My Tutorials
My goal this year was to provide professional development to teachers that was engaging, flexible, and differentiated to meet their needs. To reach these objectives, I developed a series of technology integration drop-in sessions focused on instructional pedagogy first, with technology as the tool to support the instructional objectives. I sent out the invitation through Signup Genius and immediately had favorable responses. Unfortunately, several teachers contacted me because they were interested in attending; however, the sessions conflicted with their schedules. After brainstorming and researching, a colleague on Twitter introduced me to Sophia. I immediately recognized that I could provide professional development in the model of Flipped Classroom. I continued to provide the drop-in sessions for teachers, and also developed virtual tutorials that mirrored that learning. This solution supported professional development in an unexpected way; it allowed teachers who benefited from revisiting their learning to return to the session as many times as they needed after attending the drop-in. It also allowed me to revamp professional development blocks into interactive coaching sessions. I welcome you to access these tutorials to help support your learning. If you find these tutorials useful, and have ideas for future sessions of interest, please let me know! I will continue to build, add, and revise tutorials. What are teachers saying about flipped lessons? Check out this Sophia Infographic based on recent survey data!
